About the Role
The Digital Delivery team at HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is redesigning and rebuilding Courts and Tribunal services focused on user needs, ensuring accessibility, ease of use, and digital support where appropriate. Within this, the User-Centred Design team collaborates with projects and programmes to uphold a user-led design principle.

As a Content Designer, you will work closely with service and interaction designers, user researchers, and analysts to deliver accessible, inclusive, and user-centred services. You will take ownership of content quality throughout the user journey, using evidence, data, and research to inform your decisions.

Your responsibilities will include leading content quality within multidisciplinary teams, developing content strategies to meet business and user needs, publishing guidance content on GOV.UK, initiating content improvements based on data, championing accessibility and inclusion in line with WCAG 2.2 standards, and managing and supporting other content designers. You will also engage with HMCTS and cross-government content design communities to share best practices and contribute to continuous improvement.

Experience
- Creating and improving content to meet user needs, developing clear and accessible content to communicate complex issues.
- Contributing to content strategies or identifying content solutions that align with user needs and business objectives.
- Managing and influencing stakeholders, using data and insights to support content decisions.
- Understanding end-to-end user journeys and identifying where journey fixes or content improvements are needed.
- Strong editing skills.
- Designing content for end-to-end services from concept to delivery.
- Applying content standards and style guidelines consistently.
- Working effectively in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines.
- Making complex language and processes easy to understand.
- Building long-term, strategic stakeholder relationships.

About you
- Enthusiastic about user-centred design and accessibility.
- Skilled at influencing decisions and removing blockers to ensure content is user-centred, usable, and accessible.
- Active member of a design community, contributing to ways of working and community activities such as content critiques (desirable).
- Familiarity with GDS service assessment criteria (desirable).
