About the Role

As a Contract Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing costs, overseeing procurement, and supporting the successful commercial delivery of residential projects. You will work both independently and as part of a wider commercial team—ensuring cost certainty, maintaining accurate reporting, and collaborating closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include managing subcontractor procurement, valuations, payments, remeasurements, and final accounts; preparing and maintaining accurate cost value reconciliations (CVCs), cash flows, and contract sum analyses; supporting the negotiation of client final accounts and ensuring effective documentation of change; attending design and coordination meetings to provide commercial insight and risk awareness; collaborating with Technical and Production teams to align commercial and programme goals; ensuring compliance with Hill processes, ISO9001 standards, and relevant legislation; mentoring junior team members and promoting a culture of collaboration and improvement; and engaging with subcontractors to ensure timely communication, payments, and issue resolution.

Requirements

Experience
HND/HNC or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction or Building Studies. Experience in contract or quantity surveying within residential development. Working towards or full membership of RICS or CIOB is preferred. Proven ability in subcontract documentation, remeasurement, and value engineering. Familiarity with procurement planning, reporting tools, and construction methodology.

About you
Strong commercial awareness with excellent numeracy and analytical skills. Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills. Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and Health & Safety requirements. Ability to mentor junior team members and promote a collaborative culture.

Qualifications
Relevant HND/HNC or Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction or Building Studies. Working towards or full membership of RICS or CIOB preferred.
