About the Role
BlackRock currently manages and administers 8 investment trust companies, each listed on the Premium Segment of the London Stock Exchange, with assets under management totaling $4.5 billion. These companies are supported by BlackRock's Investment Trust Company Secretariat, a dedicated six-strong team providing high quality, value-add professional company secretarial services. The team ensures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements including Listing Rules, Disclosure and Transparency Rules, and the FRC's UK Corporate Governance Code.

We are seeking a partly-qualified or recently qualified Company Secretary to join the Investment Trust Company Secretariat. The successful candidate will provide support across a full range of company secretarial services for BlackRock's investment trust companies, acting as either the primary or secondary professional, and will participate in various projects as required. Initially, the role involves responsibility for supporting three investment trusts.

Key responsibilities include:
- Taking on aspects of company secretarial responsibility for designated BlackRock investment trusts
- Supporting the Company Secretary with the end-to-end board corporate governance process including agendas, papers, and minutes, and advising on best practice
- Attending Board meetings and developing an in-depth knowledge of the investment trusts while building relationships with the Client Boards
- Drafting content for interim and annual reports of closed-end investment trusts and coordinating the report production process
- Keeping up to date with legislative and regulatory changes affecting investment companies and advising Boards on implications
- Liaising with Brokers, Registrars, external auditors, and other service providers
- Assisting with maintenance of statutory books and records and ensuring timely Companies House filings
- Supporting corporate actions and restructurings such as share buybacks, share issues, and tenders
- Drafting and lodging Stock Exchange announcements as required
- Collaborating closely with the wider Closed End Funds team and other BlackRock departments including Legal, Compliance, Risk, Quantitative Analysis, and Portfolio Management to meet Board requirements and BlackRock’s commercial objectives

Employees are expected to work at least 4 days per week in the office with the option to work from home 1 day per week. Some teams may require more office presence depending on their responsibilities. This model supports impactful in-person collaboration and accelerates onboarding and learning for new joiners.
