About the Role
The Security Industry Authority (SIA) is an executive non-departmental public body sponsored by the Home Office, established in 2004 to regulate certain activities in the private security industry. We employ nearly 400 staff and operate independently of government. We are preparing to take on new responsibilities as the regulator of Martyn’s Law, introduced by the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, which aims to improve protective security and preparedness at premises and events across the UK. This civil regulatory regime will require premises in scope to be prepared to keep people safe in the event of an attack, with certain larger premises and events required to reduce their vulnerability to terrorism. The SIA will regulate supportively, proportionately, and robustly, with new guidance, investigatory and inspection functions, and a range of powers and sanctions that complement our existing responsibilities.
