About the Role
As a Credit Control Officer at Camden Council, you will manage a large and diverse caseload of debt including Sundry, Commercial Rent, Care Charges, Housing Benefit, and Former Tenant arrears. You will take a customer-focused approach to maximise revenue and collection, supporting the ambitions set out in the Camden 2025 plan.

You will provide a professional and proactive service by responding to correspondence, handling telephone enquiries, and working closely with services and colleagues to ensure accurate billing and effective debt recovery in a cost-efficient manner.

Your role will involve identifying and taking recovery action against individuals, businesses, and public bodies throughout the collection process. This includes attending and representing the Council in court both in person and virtually.

This role can be challenging as you manage a range of billing queries and debt recovery actions, but you will play a crucial part in maximising the Council’s resources to deliver the best outcomes for residents.

Requirements

Experience
Minimum of 2 years customer service experience including face to face, phone, and written communication.
Minimum of 1 year’s debt recovery and credit control experience.
Experience recovering Local Authority Debt is preferable.
Essential knowledge of legal debt recovery processes and a good working knowledge of welfare benefits and relevant debt-related points of the Care Act.
