About the Role
The Financial Times is seeking a proven story-getter to lead reporting on credit markets, covering private credit, leveraged finance, distressed debt and restructuring in London. This is a highly competitive and rewarding business journalism role at one of the world’s leading news organisations. The successful candidate will cultivate a wide network of contacts across banks, private credit funds, law firms and advisers to deliver exclusive stories that influence markets and set the agenda. The role focuses on the rise of direct lenders and alternative credit providers, emerging credit risks, loan defaults, workouts and restructurings. The correspondent will also contribute to coverage of leveraged buyouts, high-yield and syndicated loan markets, and the evolving intersection of public and private credit. Collaboration with global corporate finance, dealmaking, private capital, financial services and markets teams is essential. Regular contributions to the Due Diligence newsletter and participation in initiatives such as conferences are expected. The FT values original reporting, great writing and intelligent commentary, with strict guidelines on the use of AI in editorial content.
