About the Role
The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a committed, hardworking, and motivated advisory teacher to join the established Children’s Sensory Team, supporting children and young people who are deaf or have hearing needs. This rewarding role involves working across a range of educational and community settings to promote progress, independence, and successful inclusion for children and young people aged from birth to 25 years, including those with additional needs. The successful candidate will provide specialist teaching, advice, and learning opportunities, as well as support schools and settings to make the curriculum accessible. Additionally, the role includes delivering training and guidance to educational staff and other professionals to enhance their ability to support children and young people with hearing needs effectively. The post is available as soon as possible or from January 2027.

Experience
Qualified Teacher Status recognised in the UK with successful teaching experience. Experience working with children and young people who are deaf or have hearing needs is desirable but not mandatory.

About you
Committed to supporting children and young people with hearing needs and promoting their inclusion and independence. Willingness to work collaboratively with schools, settings, and other professionals. Strong motivation to complete the postgraduate Mandatory Qualification for Teachers of the Deaf (QToD) if not already qualified.

Qualifications
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential. Either Qualified Teacher of the Deaf (QToD) or a clear commitment to successfully complete the Mandatory Qualification for Teachers of Children and Young People with Hearing Impairment.
