About the Role
Join a small team responsible for delivering an efficient Democratic Services and Committees function, ensuring smooth and effective operations that support the wider goals of Croydon Council. You will work under the support and direction of the Senior Officer to develop an understanding of the democratic process involved in local government. Key responsibilities include providing administrative support to the Executive, Committees, Sub-Committees, and other officer and councillor groups, assisting the Democratic Services Team with administrative tasks, and facilitating the webcasting of Council and Committee meetings.

There is a general responsibility within the team to support each other across the service. Grade progression to Grade 7 is available and linked to gaining relevant experience such as acting as a service representative at meetings, drafting agendas and minutes, advising Chairs on meeting procedures and local government regulations, and monitoring decisions to ensure compliance with laws and Council Procedure Rules.

Previous experience in administrative or governance support roles is desirable but not essential. A willingness to learn and develop knowledge of local government democratic processes is important.

About you

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required; however, progression within the role is linked to gaining relevant experience and confidence in democratic services functions.
