About the Role
As Deputy Principal Lawyer (Property & Planning), you will play a key role in supporting the leadership of our Property, Planning and Regeneration team, providing expert legal advice on a diverse and high-profile portfolio of commercial property, housing delivery, regeneration and planning matters. Working closely with the Principal Lawyer, you will oversee and support a team of lawyers while managing your own complex caseload. You will advise senior officers, elected members and key stakeholders on significant transactions and strategic projects, provide legal input to committees and represent the Council in court when necessary.

Experience
Substantial post-qualification experience as a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (FILEX) admitted to practise in England and Wales. Proven expertise in commercial and residential property transactions, regeneration and some planning policy and transactional work. Experience managing complex and high-value legal matters and providing pragmatic advice in a fast-paced, politically sensitive environment. Experience supervising or developing others is desirable.
