About the Role
As a Domestic staff member at Whittington Hospital NHS Trust, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in allocated hospital areas to meet the NHS National Standards of Cleanliness 2021. Your duties will include daily cleaning of toilets and bathrooms, vacuuming, dusting, surface cleaning, and mopping floors. You will also clean and re-make beds with clean linen where required, safely manage and collect clinical and non-clinical waste, and ensure proper segregation and disposal in line with hospital policies. You will complete checklists to demonstrate compliance with cleanliness standards and carry out deep cleaning of floors and hospital areas throughout the year.

In addition, you will assist with ward meal and drinks service, including preparation, serving, and clearing of patients’ food and beverages in compliance with Trust policies and legal requirements. This includes recording food wastage, reporting equipment failures, and maintaining cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas by washing crockery, cutlery, and cleaning equipment, cupboards, worktops, and floors. You will report any faults in equipment or building fabric to your supervisor to ensure a safe and efficient environment.

Experience
Previous experience in a cleaning or domestic role is desirable but not essential. Full training will be provided to ensure you meet NHS cleanliness standards.

Qualifications
No formal qualifications are required for this position, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential.
