WSP are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Senior Engineer with extensive postgraduate experience in drainage design for Roads, Active Travel and Major Civil Engineering schemes. You will be part of a high performing team delivering a wide range of projects, using your technical skills and expertise to drive forward technical quality and service efficiency.

Your role will include working as part of an integrated team to deliver high quality engineering services, coordinating engineering and technician resources, providing technical input to multidisciplinary internal project teams, and preparing technical reports to communicate outputs effectively to clients. You will also help develop and broaden the technical capacity of the Roads and drainage team.

Key responsibilities include technical input and design on roads, public transport and active travel projects, undertaking road drainage systems and flood risk management designs using relevant industry standard software for feasibility, concept and detailed design stages. You will apply DMRB, CIRIA and other relevant standards, develop and deliver design solutions including applications for Departures and Relaxations from Standards, and ensure all requisite approvals and consents are secured.

Effective communication, working independently and collaboratively, and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental Legislation and in-house quality assurance standards/processes are essential aspects of this role.

Requirements

Experience
- Significant postgraduate experience in outline and detailed design and delivery of surface water drainage systems and flood risk management measures for major national road development projects and other major civil engineering infrastructure.
- Excellent working knowledge of drainage principles, DMRB standards and guidelines, SuDS and hydraulic modelling.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and ArcGIS software.
- Experienced with drainage design and flood modelling software such as Microdrainage and Causeway Flow.
- Experience with related software like InfoWorks ICM, FloodModeller, TuFlow, HEC-RAS (1D/2D) and HEC-HMS is beneficial.

Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status with a professional institute, or close to achieving this qualification.
