About the Role
Join WSP's Ground & Water team within the Earth & Environment business and contribute to a variety of environmental projects. This role involves a mixture of office-based and site-based work, including field surveys, data collection and management, and contributing to technical reports. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams including Nature Advisory, Landscape, Environmental Planning and Sustainability, gaining broad environmental experience.

You will assist with Agricultural Land Classification (ALC) assessments, Soil Resource Assessments, and soil-related inputs for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and construction projects. Supported by experienced soil scientists and environmental professionals, you will develop your technical knowledge and professional skills through practical experience and training.

A typical week includes assisting with soil surveys, fieldwork, sampling, data collection, supporting report preparation, and working alongside colleagues to deepen your understanding of soil science, agricultural land issues, and environmental assessment processes.

Experience
Relevant experience in soil science, environmental consultancy, land management or a related field is desirable.

About you
- A degree in Soil Science, Environmental Science, Physical Geography, Geology or a related discipline.
- Interest in Agricultural Land Classification (ALC), soil resource surveys and soil management.
- Good fieldwork skills and willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions.
- Understanding of UK environmental legislation and the role of soils within development projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to learn and develop technical skills through training and practical experience.
- Basic understanding of GIS software is advantageous but not essential.
- Membership of, or interest in joining, a relevant professional body such as the British Society of Soil Science (BSSS).
- Ability to travel to remote project locations within the UK.

Qualifications
A degree in a relevant discipline such as Soil Science, Environmental Science, Physical Geography or Geology is required.
