About the Role
We are excited to offer an opportunity for a motivated and experienced officer to step into the role of Enforcement Team Leader. This is a key leadership position where you will work in partnership with an existing Enforcement Team Leader, jointly managing the Planning Enforcement team. Together, you will lead a high-performing, customer-focused service that protects and enhances Enfield’s built and natural environment.
Key responsibilities include co-leading a team of planning enforcement officers, sharing responsibility for resourcing, case management, decision making, performance, and development. You will manage complex and high-profile planning enforcement cases across a range of planning issues, provide expert advice to officers, executive and senior managers, councillors, and stakeholders, and represent the Council at planning enforcement appeals, inquiries, and court proceedings, acting as an expert witness. Additionally, you will drive innovation and continuous improvement in planning enforcement practices.

Experience
- Strong experience in planning enforcement, including case management, appeals, and legal proceedings.
About you
- A collaborative leadership style with a commitment to team development and continuous improvement.
- In-depth expert knowledge of planning legislation and enforcement policy.
- Proven ability to work constructively with ward councillors and MPs to support local residents with their planning-related concerns.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications and experience in planning enforcement or related fields are desirable to effectively fulfil the role.
