Salary
Base salary: £26,871 to £31,613 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, a flexible benefits fund of 15% is paid on top of base salary and is fully pensionable, along with a range of competitive benefits.

About the Role
As an Environmental Coordinator at HS2, you will support the High Speed 2 (HS2) SCS Integrated Project Team (IPT) in assuring the design and construction of the IPT scope of works. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure compliance with environmental requirements, commitments, laws, and regulations. You will provide guidance on environmental design solutions and ensure environmental issues and constraints are key considerations in project design.

Your duties include supporting the Senior Environment Manager (SEM) in organising, coordinating, and undertaking the environmental element of HS2's risk-based technical assurance of works performed by the IPT. You will assist with internal and external reporting of environmental matters, ensure timely assurance and acceptance of contractors' reporting, and support communication coordination through the contract.

You will also assist in the development and progression of environmental innovations identified by contractors, undertake desk-based and onsite environmental assurance and surveillance activities, and help coordinate and report assurance findings. You may deputise for the Environment Manager as required.

Requirements

Experience
Experience working to deadlines and communicating information clearly and concisely. Familiarity with environmental law as it relates to infrastructure projects and understanding of the regulatory and legislative framework relevant to HS2.

Demonstrated ability in complex problem solving, reviewing and analysing data, evaluating options, and implementing solutions consistent with other working practices.

Ability to gather and synthesise information, identify options, apply judgement based on logic and reason, and provide relevant information to suppliers, stakeholders, and decision makers.

Experience in communicating discipline-specific technical ideas effectively to colleagues.

Basic understanding of data management principles, including information management, modelling, data security, data creation, and visualisation, working under supervision or with subject matter experts.
