Salary
Base salary: £70,713pa to c.£83,191pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, a flexible benefits fund of 20% is paid on top of the base salary and is fully pensionable, alongside a range of competitive benefits.

About the Role
As a Lead Acquisitions Manager at HS2, you will lead a team of technical surveyors to ensure the timely delivery of the required land and property for the HS2 project. You will actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, supporting and complying with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI. You will own the performance of the Land & Property Area Acquisition Team, managing the team by setting objectives, reviewing performance, and ensuring staff have the necessary skills and understanding to deliver the team's goals.

You will develop and own the strategy for the delivery of Area Acquisition activities, identifying risks, opportunities, and potential benefits for HS2. Your responsibilities include acquisition of land and property with a focus on providing a responsive and positive experience for claimants, ensuring timely case completion and high standards of communication with all stakeholders.

You will ensure financial decisions align with managing public money and providing fair compensation. Proactively developing relationships with major and high-profile affected land and property owners, individuals, and organisations will be key to enabling effective negotiations. You will provide advice to other HS2 departments including delivery, town planning, environment, and petition management to inform decision making.

Collaboration and communication with other members of the property acquisition management team are essential to ensure a consistent approach across Land & Property in HS2. You will also contribute to the development of acquisition and property management business planning and strategy.

Experience
- Leading and developing a team
- Delivery experience in a similar acquisition environment aligned to a programme timetable

- Ability to manage suppliers and build sustainable strategic relationships with the supplier market
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence
- Ability to lead sensitive negotiations tactfully
- Empathy and ability to engage with affected landowners on sensitive issues

Knowledge
- Knowledge of surveying
- Understanding of the compulsory purchase process or other government compensation schemes
