About the Role
As an Experienced Staff Nurse in Surgical Oncology on Blundell Ward, you will independently manage a group of patients within the specialty while working as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will deliver individualized and personalized direct patient care, being wholly accountable for your practice in line with the NMC code of professional conduct. Effective communication with patients, carers, and families regarding disease treatment and management is essential. Your responsibilities will include conducting assessments, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, which encompasses history taking, physical examinations, and requesting agreed diagnostic procedures. You will undertake prescribed physical observations and be responsible for the correct administration of prescribed medication via oral, enteral, and IV routes, including the transfusion of blood and blood products. Recognizing emergencies in the specialty and leading others in appropriate actions will be part of your role. You will work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to ascertain treatments and advise on nursing priorities, ensuring safe and effective care for complex patients requiring advanced clinical skills. Additionally, you will carry out specialist nursing procedures and complete evidence-based interventions relevant to the specialties.

Experience
Previous experience in a surgical oncology setting is preferred. You should demonstrate a strong understanding of patient care and clinical procedures.

Qualifications
