About the Role
We are recruiting an experienced Floor Layer to undertake the replacement of vinyl and carpets within our domestic properties. You will be responsible for delivering high quality, ‘right first time’, and cost-effective building services to the business and its customers. The role includes estimating and measuring, removal of existing floor coverings, repairs and screeding to concrete floors, fitting plywood and over-boarding, fitting new vinyl including cap and cove, welding and forming to wet-rooms and showers, stairs and nosings, and laying carpets in individual rooms and supported housing schemes.

Basic carpentry skills are preferred, including trimming the bottom of doors, fitting threshold strips, removing, trimming and refitting plinths to kitchen units, and moving appliances such as washing machines. Hot works training for heat/welding guns and experience working within a social housing environment are also desirable.

You will conduct work in accordance with current legislation, British Standards, Codes of Practice, safe systems of work, and recognised industrial standards, minimising damage to the fabric of the property.

The role includes provision of a company vehicle and fuel card for working hours. You will be provided with full uniform, all required PPE, and the latest handheld technology. You will also have access to regular employee forums and feedback groups.

Requirements

Experience
At least two years of relevant experience in floor laying including estimating and measuring, removal of floor coverings, repairs and screeding, fitting plywood and over-boarding, vinyl fitting including welding, and carpet laying. Experience working within a social housing environment is desirable.

Experience with hot works training for heat/welding guns is preferred.

A minimum of one year significant driving experience is required.

About you
Reliable and skilled floor layer with attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Basic carpentry skills are preferred, including door trimming, fitting threshold strips, and moving appliances. Ability to work safely and in accordance with legislation and standards.

Enthusiastic about working in a social housing environment and delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications
Recognised training such as NVQ or equivalent is desirable but not essential if relevant experience can be demonstrated.

You must hold a valid manual UK driving licence. Employment is subject to company fleet policy and insurance requirements.

A standard background check with the Disclosure and Barring Service will be completed upon offer of employment and renewed every three years.
