About the Role
As a Functional Assessor: PIP Clinical Auditor, you will develop a close working relationship with the Senior Decision Maker (SDM) to promote joint working. You will carry out clinical coaching with both new and existing staff following training to ensure a smooth and consistent learning journey. Your responsibilities include conducting daily clinical audits and providing constructive, informative feedback via the PRS systems on new and existing staff members. You will monitor trends and emerging issues, providing feedback to Clinical Support Leads as needed. Undertaking assessments in line with business requirements to maintain approval will be key, alongside applying critical thinking and logical reasoning to support Functional Assessors in producing accurate, detailed reports using DWP systems and processes. Ensuring reports meet high standards, including accurate spelling and grammar, is essential to achieve required quality grades. You will support the achievement of service delivery KPIs through provision of an effective and efficient Assessment Service. Proactively developing your knowledge of health conditions by engaging with Continuous Professional Development (CPD) opportunities in line with professional registration and contractual requirements is expected. You will undertake any required training to carry out the Functional Assessor role, such as Paper-based Reviews and initial Triage. Taking ownership of professional revalidation to ensure timely completion and maintaining personal approval in specific disciplines/tasks as per PIPAG guidelines are also part of the role.

Experience
- Minimum 9-12 months experience as a DWP approved Functional Assessor with consistently high-quality clinical audit outcomes
- Minimum 12 months post-qualification experience as a physiotherapist, nurse, doctor, occupational therapist, or paramedic (PIP only)
- Experience in undertaking and/or delivering PIP audits
- Experience in delivering clinical coaching within the PIP environment
- Experience in delivering feedback and professional development in a clinical setting
About you
- HCPC, NMC, or GMC registered with no restrictions on practice
- Proven record of proactively engaging with relevant Continual Professional Development (CPD)
- Efficient IT skills with ability to type notes accurately during assessments (minimum 30 words per minute)
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
- Willingness and ability to share clinical experience and knowledge positively within a team
- Comfortable working to team and individual targets
- Detail-oriented, driven, flexible, and positive in utilizing feedback for personal and professional development
- Demonstrable ability to manage time effectively
- Driven to support others by sharing knowledge, experience, and best practice
Qualifications
- Registered healthcare professional status (HCPC, NMC, or GMC) with no restrictions on practice
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and revalidation in line with role requirements
