The Investment Banking Operations team supports the Bank Loans, Fixed Income and Equity Trading Desks, specifically the Cash Equity / Fixed Income and Bank Loans Syndicate Execution Desk by performing middle office functions. As a Syndicate Associate, you will provide operational support to the EMEA Syndicate desk, helping to structure bank loans, equity and debt new issuances, ensuring accurate deal set-up, trade bookings and flows.

This role involves close collaboration with Investment Banking, ECM, DCM, Trading, Sales, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Financial Controllers, external brokers, counterparties and clearing systems. Responsibilities include reviewing executed commitments and legal documentation to ensure key attributes are correctly captured, performing key control and risk management functions for Corporate Bank loans from booking through deal funding, liaising with Common Depositaries, Clearing Houses and GS Legal to ensure successful transaction closings, and performing timely trade corrections to minimize P&L, reputational and settlement risk.

You will also be involved in weekly risk reporting, initiatives to improve straight-through processing (STP) metrics, system developments, and providing updates to Senior Management on market conditions and deal pipelines.

This position offers extensive interaction across multiple departments within Goldman Sachs, providing excellent opportunities to build key relationships across business areas and Federation teams. Comprehensive training on internal systems and processes will be provided, and you will play an integral role in working with IT and Project groups to optimize trade booking flows and reduce manual processes.

Experience
Experience in a Bank Loans or Middle Office function is helpful but not essential. The role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills due to frequent interaction with internal teams and external parties including lawyers and third parties. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment is essential.

Qualifications
Educated to degree level is preferred.
