About the Role

An established environmental services employer is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join their operational team based in South Wimbledon. This role is ideal for someone with previous grounds maintenance experience who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and is looking to develop a long-term career within the sector. Working as part of a two-person team, you will travel to a variety of sites including schools, hospitals, clinics, and other public facilities across South London and North Surrey, carrying out a range of grounds maintenance duties.
Key responsibilities include:
- Grass cutting using pedestrian and ride-on equipment
- Hedge cutting and shrub maintenance
- Weed control and vegetation management
- Tree maintenance and pruning activities
- Flower bed maintenance and seasonal planting
- Basic landscaping duties
- Carrying out daily vehicle and equipment checks
- Maintaining high standards of site presentation
- Following all Health & Safety procedures
- Providing a professional service when working on client sites

Experience
- Previous grounds maintenance experience
- Experience carrying out grass cutting and hedge cutting duties
- Full UK Manual driving licence
- Confidence driving vans safely and responsibly
- Ability to arrive at the South Wimbledon depot by 06:25am each working day

Desirable
- Experience using a range of grounds maintenance machinery
- Landscaping experience
- PA1 and PA6 spraying certificates
- Experience working on commercial or public sector contracts
