About the Role
The Corporate Health and Safety team are seeking a Health & Safety Adviser to provide professional and comprehensive health and safety advisory services across the organisation, including London Borough of Havering and external clients. The role involves delivering expert advice, incident investigation, developing management arrangements, and monitoring compliance to ensure continual improvement in health and safety performance and service delivery.

Key responsibilities include:
- Providing health and safety advice to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and the Council’s health and safety management system framework
- Leading designated projects, research, and investigations
- Maximising income opportunities
- Delivering key actions from service priorities and KPIs such as accident and incident reviews, audits, risk assessments, and training support
- Producing standards, monitoring compliance, and ensuring statutory inspections are in place
- Responding to general health and safety enquiries
- Maintaining regular contact with managers and senior managers to provide guidance, training, and direction

Experience
Minimum qualification of NEBOSH Certificate with progression towards Diploma level qualification is required. Experience in providing health and safety advice, incident investigation, and compliance monitoring is essential.

Qualifications
NEBOSH Certificate minimum; working towards NEBOSH Diploma preferred. Relevant health and safety qualifications and experience aligned with the role’s responsibilities.
