About the Role
The postholder will work in the Colindale Sequencing Laboratory (CSL) contributing to the provision of genomic services including Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), Sanger sequencing, and fragment analysis using various instruments and technologies. You will support molecular routine service delivery within CSL, performing NGS on sequencing platforms using automated liquid handling procedures and equipment under supervision. Responsibilities include sample tracking using the NGS LIMS system, ensuring smooth sample flow from receipt to testing, carrying out routine quality control, maintaining equipment through monitoring and calibration, managing stock and reagents, and assisting in training staff and visitors. You will work collaboratively with internal teams and external collaborators, maintaining high standards of quality and safety, and supporting continuous development of the laboratory services. This role requires adherence to health and safety policies and participation in quality assurance and audit programmes. You will also engage in continuous professional development and specialist training in molecular techniques.

Experience
- Knowledge of automated liquid handling
- Understanding of laboratory safety requirements and procedures
- Experience with NGS platforms is desirable
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks
