About the Role
Are you passionate about supporting young minds and making a real difference in the classroom? We’re looking for a dedicated, experienced, energetic, and caring Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our fantastic team at Leaways School, part of Kedleston Group.

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will assist teachers and pastoral teams to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.

Your responsibilities will include delivering targeted 1:1 and small group interventions to support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development; adapting learning activities and resources to meet individual needs using therapeutic, communication, and behaviour support strategies; monitoring student progress including assessing, recording, and reporting on achievements; covering lessons in the absence of the class teacher; and assisting in the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources.

Leaways School is an independent specialist day school in Clapton for children and young people aged 7 to 17 with SEMH needs including autism and an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The school aims to provide a mainstream experience with additional care and support to enable students to thrive.

Experience
HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
Previous experience working as a teaching assistant or in a similar educational support role.
Experience working with students with SEMH and/or ASC needs.

Strong understanding of child development and the primary/secondary curriculum.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications
HLTA qualification or equivalent experience is required.
