About the Role
Are you passionate about supporting young minds and making a real difference in the classroom? We’re looking for a dedicated, energetic, and caring Teaching Assistant to join our fantastic team! You will identify strategies to help overcome individual pupils’ barriers to learning and be prepared to use humour and restorative practice to ensure a child-centred approach. You will support the transition of new pupils arriving or existing pupils returning to school, putting the necessary support in place to overcome any barriers to learning. Providing in-class support as necessary to meet the needs of the school, you will liaise with other staff to monitor pupils’ behaviour and well-being. Building positive relationships with parents and carers to encourage family involvement in their child’s progress and communicating with them about specific support in place for their child will also be key parts of your role.

About the Employer
Leaways School is an independent specialist day school in Clapton for children and young people aged 7 to 17. The school provides a safe learning environment for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs including autism and an EHC Plan. We also have a dedicated primary unit taking children from 7 years old. We aim to offer as close to a mainstream experience as possible while providing the additional care and support needed around each young person to enable them to thrive.
