About the Role
Internal Audit ensures that Goldman Sachs maintains effective controls by assessing the reliability of financial reports, monitoring compliance with laws and regulations, and advising management on developing smart control solutions. The team has unique insight into the financial industry, its products, and operations. As the third line of defence, Internal Audit independently assesses the firm’s control environment, including governance, risk management, capital, and financial crime frameworks. The role extends beyond identifying control weaknesses to engaging constructively with management to evaluate risk, advise on sustainable control solutions, and assess the effectiveness of remediation efforts.

In this role, you will contribute across the audit lifecycle, including planning, scoping, fieldwork, issue validation, and reporting. You will own discrete workstreams, design and execute test programmes to assess key controls, document analysis and conclusions clearly, and evaluate risks and remediation. You will develop broad knowledge across the credit risk lifecycle, stay informed about emerging credit trends and regulatory expectations, and understand global capital frameworks such as Basel, IFRS 9, and CECL.

You will analyse complex portfolio data to identify themes, outliers, and control gaps, form evidence-based conclusions, and communicate findings clearly to colleagues, business partners, and senior management. Additionally, you will support and coach analysts and new joiners, sharing knowledge and leading practices across regional teams in London, New York, Birmingham, and Dallas.
