About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS trusts, providing a full range of hospital and community services across south London and specialist care for patients from further afield. The Trust includes two of London’s oldest teaching hospitals, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, and specialist centres for cancer, renal, orthopaedic, respiratory, cardiovascular, heart and lung diseases. With a commitment to clinical excellence, teaching, research and patient-centred care, the Trust supports over 900,000 patient contacts annually and employs over 23,500 staff.

The Procurement department, part of the Finance directorate, supports Trust staff in managing income and expenditure with a focus on portfolio management, supply chain, and non-catalogue purchasing. As an Inventory Operative, you will be responsible for the provision of internal supply chain services including inventory management, receipts, distribution, and supply chain operations using computerised and bar-coded data capture systems.

You will collaborate closely with clinical budget holders to ensure effective management of clinical supplies in line with end user requirements, follow replenishment processes, escalate supply issues, and provide excellent customer service. The role involves receiving, unpacking, replenishing stock, transporting supplies securely across the Trust, ensuring accuracy of deliveries, managing stock rotation and expiry, participating in stock takes, and supporting training for new staff on supply chain systems.

This role requires adherence to Trust policies including financial instructions, clinical governance, health and safety, confidentiality, and infection control. You will work as a liaison between wards, clinical departments, and the Procurement Department to maximise cost effectiveness and efficient stock management.
