Salary
Base salary: £44,380pa to c. £52,212pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, a flexible benefits fund of 20% is paid on top of the base salary and is fully pensionable, along with a range of competitive benefits.

About the Role
As Landscape Design Manager, you will bring together information on Public Realm and Landscape from a complex range of sources to manage and guide the design integration, delivering the Objectives of the Design Vision, Design Guidance, Environmental Minimum Requirements, Strategic Goals and Objectives, Benefits, and cost-compliant integrated delivery of the project. You will provide qualitative assurance and verification to senior management on key design issues across a defined geographic area, working closely with members of the Integrated Project Teams and the Natural and Built Environment team in their technical assurance role.

Your responsibilities will include reviewing and managing technical assurance activities related to the design development and delivery of landscape areas (including public realm) for a defined geographic area equivalent to the size of a contract Integrated Project Team area within Phase 1. You will work cross-programme to integrate a holistic and context-driven design that meets the aspirations of the HS2 Design Vision and Landscape Design Approach benefits and programme requirements.

You will provide technical knowledge and advice at a manager level for the discipline of Landscape Design to the HS2 Ltd Business, collaborate with colleagues and project disciplines at manager and senior manager levels, and promote an integrated approach to Landscape Design. Developing and maintaining active working relationships with project service consultants and stakeholders to ensure Landscape Design requirements are fully understood and delivered will be key.

Additional duties include providing briefings and presentations as necessary, managing and guiding design activities undertaken by project service consultants, critically reviewing key design deliverables, and providing regular updates to the Senior Manager Landscape Design and the Landscape Lead – Routewide. Ensuring safety is a key priority in all aspects of the role and actively promoting and embedding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all work is essential.

Requirements

Experience
- Managing medium to large landscape design projects at a senior management level covering stages from inception through to completion.
- Working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary management or design team alongside engineers, construction experts, architects, and environmental specialists.
- Site supervision of medium to large landscape construction projects.
- Undertaking design reviews and critiquing to achieve high-quality design proposals.
- Providing risk-based advice to stakeholders.
- Developing pragmatic approaches to design challenges.

About You
- Strong design skills relating to the development and design of soft and hard landscape areas (including Public Realm) and Landscape Masterplans.
- Ability to develop integrated places that achieve social, environmental, and economic benefits.
- Proven ability to manage landscape design activities of medium to large scale projects and multiple consultants.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage complex tasks, as well as collaboratively within a diverse and highly skilled team.
- Commitment to promoting and embedding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all work.

Qualifications
- Degree in Landscape Architecture or equivalent work experience.
- Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute or working towards LI’s Chartership.
- Understanding of cost delivery, schedule targets, and the need to deliver an integrated, high-quality solution that meets all design and functional requirements.
