About the Role
Whatever your experience of street homelessness and its impact on people’s lives – personal or professional – when you join the Thames Reach team as a Lead Worker we will make the best use of all your understanding, compassion and commitment. Thames Reach runs projects and services that help to end homelessness in and around London. We work directly with homeless people on the streets and in hostels, prevent vulnerable people from becoming homeless, and help formerly homeless people get their lives back on track. We also support people to find work and access training and volunteering opportunities. Our mission is challenging but rewarding, and last year we helped more than 15,000 people. We are proud to be listed as one of the top 100 Best Workplaces in the UK, offering an excellent environment to develop or transfer your skills and build a fulfilling career.

As a Lead Worker on the Acre Lane Project, you will be part of a 24-hour staff team supporting people to move in, assessing their needs and quickly identifying the best next steps for them. You will help develop personalised support plans to ensure clients are ready to move on and accessing support with their health, substance misuse, criminal justice and life skills needs. The role acts as a bridge between front line staff and management and is an excellent introduction to managerial responsibilities.

You will support and encourage clients to become more independent, maximise income and reduce arrears throughout the hostel. You will motivate and encourage the team to meet move on targets and provide high levels of service to clients. Additionally, you will liaise with, signpost and support client engagement with specialist agencies such as drug treatment services, Community Mental Health Teams, doctors and community groups. Providing person-centred support, you will co-produce plans to assist clients in achieving their aims and ambitions.
