About the Role
The Financial Times is seeking a Solicitor qualified commercial contracts lawyer for a three month fixed term maternity cover position, available for immediate start. You will join the FT’s highly regarded in-house legal team, supporting key business divisions including corporate subscriptions, licensing, global conferences and events, thought leadership, and specialist titles. The role involves advising on contracts with clients across various industries and jurisdictions, negotiating contract terms, providing commercial and responsive legal advice, managing contracts based on standard templates, and updating these templates to reflect evolving business needs. You will also deliver training to business partners and utilise leading legal AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance legal service delivery. This position offers the flexibility to work fully remotely or in a hybrid model from Belfast or London offices.

Experience
Solicitor qualified in the UK. Strong commercial contract drafting skills and legal knowledge, including copyright, licensing, indemnity, and liability issues. Demonstrated commercial awareness aligned with strategic business objectives. Ability to manage contracts and negotiate effectively. Experience working in-house is desirable.
