About the Role
Southwark Council is the largest local authority social landlord in London, managing 55,000 homes and serving a diverse population. The Legal Disrepair Officer will join the Legal Disrepair Team within Southwark Repairs, a customer-focused service committed to continuous improvement and resident satisfaction.

This fixed-term role offers an exciting opportunity to manage a portfolio of legal disrepair cases and arbitration matters. You will play a key role in preventing new claims through early intervention on properties at risk of litigation. Your responsibilities will include managing a varied caseload in a fast-paced environment, preparing detailed reports for arbitration and legal proceedings, and mitigating the Council’s liability by investigating claims and assessing risks.

You will work closely with Legal Services and external solicitors to assess breaches of tenancy agreements, gather and present evidence, and represent the Council in court where necessary. The role also involves robust contractor management, performance monitoring, and quality assurance to ensure an excellent repairs service.

Southwark Council values diversity and inclusion and offers a supportive working environment with family-friendly policies, flexible and home working options, and a local government pension scheme. Join a motivated and high-achieving team making a real difference in the community.
