The post holders will be expected to: Participate in clinical and other service activities with the objective of ensuring a high standard of patient care Contribute to the development and management of quality improvement projects and clinical audit within the department Contribute to the clinical supervision of undergraduates and assist in the delivery of courses throughout the BDS programme Contribute to departmental clinical research Provision of High Quality Care to Patients The post holder must: Be dentally qualified and maintain GDC registration Develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post Continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge, allowing for all proper delegation and reference to senior staff. Ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care programmed activities Ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and to respond to their views Research, Teaching and Training The post holder must: Provide high quality teaching to dental undergraduates and members of other health care professions Collaborate with academic and clinical colleagues to enhance the Trusts translational research portfolio, at all times meeting the full requirements of Research Governance Clinical Governance The post holder must: Participate in clinical audit, incident reporting and analysis and to ensure resulting actions are implemented Participate in ensuring new guidelines are implemented and monitored in the specialty areas All post holders have a responsibility to report risks such as clinical and non-clinical accidents or incidents promptly. Keep fully informed of best practice in the specialty areas Role model good practice for infection control to all members of the multidisciplinary team All medical and dental staff are required to undertake annual appraisal.
