About the Role Overseeing the MARAC function includes receiving referrals and risk assessments, agenda setting, recording minutes and actions, ensuring that partner agencies complete their actions and maintaining relevant databases. T To work in partnership with a range of stakeholders to ensure high risk victims of domestic abuse are receiving appropriate support. To support the VAWG lead on the governance structure surrounding Domestic Violence and Abuse. Work with the VAWG Officer on awareness raising and communications in relation to the VAWG Communications Agenda Works with manager and colleagues to define outcomes, set targets and monitor performance, within a culture of continual improvement Support operational plans to ensure that the resources within the teams are used to best effect and impact Work alongside the VAWG lead to have strategic oversight of the Domestic Homicide Review Process including working on recommendations, overseeing the action plan and liaising with the independent reviewer around publishing the report and partnership work around this. Represent community safety at other risk management meetings (IOM, MAPPA, Channel, CMARAC) where appropriate as the domestic abuse and vawg lead. The role reports directly to the Domestic and Sexual Violence Reduction Policy Officer, and is responsible for the support of our vital work tackling Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) by leading on the Domestic Violence and Abuse Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) and ensuring that all relevant safeguarding measures are taken across the partnership to reduce harm towards high risk victims of domestic abuse. The postholder will work to support the improvement of community safety and social outcomes in Kingston, including the progression and development of a systematic and sustainable approach to tackling community safety issues, ensuring an effective community safety approach operates across the partnership. The postholder will work to support the Domestic & Sexual Violence Reduction Policy Officer and Safer Kingston Partnership across key strategic partnerships so that policy-makers and decision-takers make community safety a priority. The post holder will develop and maintain key working relationships and partnerships with various stakeholders, including Councillors, colleagues and partners across Kingston, particularly the responsible authorities under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, primary and secondary care, clinical networks, Local Government Association, ADPH (London), Kingston Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), commissioners, providers, academic partners, the voluntary sector and the wider community. The postholder will contribute to the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 requirement for ‘Responsible Authorities’ to work together in partnership to produce a Strategy for the reduction of Crime, Disorder, Substance Misuse and Re-offending in the Borough. About You Have a relevant degree or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills through training in a relevant area Knowledge of working within the VAWG and or Community Safety setting Knowledge around Housing legislation in regards to Domestic Abuse and VAWG Proven experience of working in and leading a multi-agency setting Experienced of the VAWG (specifically domestic abuse) agenda and the roles and responsibilities of various agencies involved within it. Have good working knowledge of Domestic Abuse and Housing duties. Proven ability of developing successful partnerships, engaging key partners Have strong communication and engagement skills, being able to interest and motivate people about population safety and health Willingness to work flexibly and respond to the needs of the business and to work evenings and weekends when required.
