Richmond, with a combination of onsite and home working. Applicants should be able to regularly travel to our Kew site.
Hours
Full Time. Requests for part-time working, flexible working and job share will be considered, subject to operational needs of the Department.

About the Role
The National Archives houses one of the world’s most extraordinary collections, spanning more than a thousand years of history. Our Collection Care department works at the forefront of conservation and heritage science, ensuring that this remarkable record of the past is preserved and accessible for generations to come. We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Operations Manager to help shape, support and optimise the day-to-day running of our conservation studios and heritage science laboratories. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a busy, collaborative environment and enjoys enabling specialist teams to work at their best. You will be part of a dynamic department dedicated to innovation, research, and the long-term care of the nation’s written heritage.

Experience
- Proven track record of setting direction, allocating resources and delivering projects independently and collaboratively.
- Experience contributing expertise to planning and continuous improvement.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple workstreams and manage direct reports.
- Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills to engage effectively with various stakeholders including external suppliers.
- Digital fluency with strong proficiency in standard IT systems such as Microsoft 365/Office and ability to quickly learn internal or proprietary platforms.
- Manual dexterity to support the safe handling of collection items in line with established guidance and training (reasonable adjustments made where needed).
- First-aid competence: FAW preferred or EFAW minimum, or willingness to obtain certification within 3 months, including confidence with CPR and AED use.

Qualifications
- No specific qualifications required, but first-aid certification (FAW or EFAW) is essential or must be obtained within 3 months.
