Part Time - 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm. Hours are slightly negotiable for the right candidate but must total 25 hours per week.

£38,256 per annum (pro-rata for part-time hours)
About the Role
Join the Revenue and Benefits Customer Services Team at the London Borough of Sutton, a busy, high performing front-line service supporting the Council Tax and Benefits Department. You will work in a target-driven, busy call-centre environment as part of a friendly, supportive and motivated team. The role involves handling telephone enquiries and occasional face-to-face contact, discussing Council Tax Accounts, Business Rates accounts and Housing Benefits (training provided on Business Rates and Housing Benefits). You will need good numeracy skills to carry out often complicated calculations with training provided.
Initially based in the office, there will be an opportunity for hybrid working after approximately 6 months of training. The role requires calmness under pressure and the ability to confidently handle sometimes difficult, elderly or distressed members of the public. You will be expected to work using your own initiative and maintain professionalism in a busy, target-driven environment.

Experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience dealing with Council Tax queries by letter, email or telephone.
- Minimum of 1 year experience working in a busy, target-driven environment.
- Minimum of 6 months experience dealing with customers over the telephone.

You will have a professional, confident and friendly telephone manner with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You must be computer literate and able to work calmly under pressure. The ability to handle difficult or distressed customers with empathy and professionalism is essential. You should be able to work independently using your own initiative and be motivated to contribute positively to the team.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required; however, a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and numeracy skills are essential. Training will be provided on Business Rates, Housing Benefits, and other relevant areas.
