Teaching takes place during school hours, after school and on Saturdays.

Salary
£33.00 per hour

About the Role
Hillingdon Music Service is keen to recruit enthusiastic Peripatetic and Class Music Teachers to deliver high-quality music lessons across the borough. We are currently looking to recruit teachers specialising in Guitar, Piano, and Upper Strings.

Hillingdon Music Service provides specialist music education in schools and at Music Service centres throughout the borough. Tuition supports the aims of the National Plan for Music Education and offers high-quality musical opportunities for children and young people.

This is an exciting opportunity to inspire the next generation of musicians while working as part of a dedicated and supportive team. Depending on your experience and specialism, you may teach individual students, small groups, whole classes, curriculum music lessons or lead ensembles and choirs.

You will:
- Deliver engaging, high-quality music lessons that meet the needs of individual learners and groups.
- Inspire children and young people to develop their musical skills, confidence and enjoyment of music.
- Plan, deliver, assess and monitor learning activities that support student progress and achievement.
- Maintain accurate records, registers, reports and administrative information.
- Communicate effectively with schools, parents, carers and Music Service colleagues.
- Contribute to performances, enrichment activities and wider Music Service projects.
- Support students in working towards musical qualifications and performance opportunities where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and enhance the Music Service offer.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, safeguarding and conduct at all times.
- Engage fully in training and continuous professional development opportunities.

Depending on the nature of your teaching role, you may also:
- Deliver one-to-one or small group instrumental, vocal or theory lessons.
- Teach whole-class instrumental programmes in schools.
- Deliver curriculum music lessons across Key Stages 1 and 2.
- Lead choirs, bands, orchestras and other musical ensembles.
- Develop teaching resources, lesson materials and schemes of work.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to students, parents and schools.

Requirements

Experience
Experience of teaching children and young people, either individually, in groups or whole-class settings is required. Experience across a range of teaching settings is desirable.

You are a highly motivated, dynamic and committed musician passionate about music education and helping children and young people achieve their potential.
- Accomplished musician with strong subject knowledge in your specialist area.
- Passionate about helping students progress from any starting point.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organised and able to manage lesson planning, administration and school liaison effectively.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability and excellent punctuality.
- Able to travel between multiple teaching locations.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Enthusiastic about continuous professional development and improving your practice.

Qualifications
Relevant music teaching qualifications or equivalent experience are desirable to support your teaching practice.
