As Portering Team Leader, you will be the first line manager for Porters, Dispatchers, and Supervisors, ensuring shifts are adequately covered and managing sickness, annual leave, and disciplinary matters in line with Trust and departmental policies. You will oversee the Portering task management system to ensure timely allocation of work and resolve any issues to avoid disruption to patients or service users.

Your role includes performing a proportion of Supervisor/Dispatcher duties during busy periods or as designated by the Portering Manager. You will lead the General Porters and Supervisor/Dispatchers to achieve the highest levels of performance consistent with the Trust’s core values. Additionally, you will support Portering Management in the smooth running of the department.

You will support the delivery of an effective Portering Service, ensuring customer requirements are met according to service level agreements and escalating issues when service standards fall short. You will manage staff performance through regular appraisals and SMART objectives, monitor team rotas to maintain sufficient cover, and manage sickness absence and annual leave reporting.

Motivating and developing staff, coordinating training requirements, and ensuring minimum staffing levels are maintained at all times are key responsibilities. This role requires excellent leadership and organisational skills to manage conflicting duties and prioritise workloads effectively.

Qualifications
- Educated to NVQ level standard or equivalent experience
