About the Service and Team
The Neighbourhoods and Community Involvement Team works across Kingston to strengthen communities, support residents earlier, and prevent problems escalating into crisis. The team integrates neighbourhood working, voluntary sector partnerships, and community-led support to help residents access the right help at the right time. Working closely with Housing, Adult Social Care, Public Health, and local voluntary organisations, the team creates joined-up, preventative services that improve wellbeing and reduce pressure on statutory systems.
This role is part of Kingston’s developing Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) prevention model, focusing on early support across five key wellbeing areas: Money, Home, Health, Friends & Family, and Work & Purpose.

About the Role
As a Prevention & Wellbeing Navigator, you will provide early, practical support to residents experiencing financial or housing difficulties, helping to stabilise situations and prevent escalation into crisis.
You will work directly with residents beginning to experience financial stress, housing difficulties, or wider wellbeing challenges, focusing on early intervention to resolve issues before they escalate into crisis or require statutory services.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Meeting with residents to understand their situation and carry out structured wellbeing conversations.
- Helping residents access benefits, financial support, housing advice, or community services.
- Completing applications and forms with residents and assisting them in navigating complex systems.
- Coordinating support across council teams and partner organisations through referrals and warm handovers.
- Providing short-term, practical support while maintaining clear boundaries and accurate case records.
