About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen within the London Borough of Redbridge for a highly experienced Principal Lawyer – Property & Planning to join the Council and provide a comprehensive and professional legal service. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer within the Legal Department, you will work closely with other Council departmental clients and specialist departments.

You will manage the Property & Planning Legal Team and provide expert advice, guidance, and practical assistance on property and planning matters including landlord and tenant act issues, deeds of easement/wayleaves, collective enfranchisement and leasehold extensions, right to buy transactions, planning agreements, and other related matters.

You will conduct the Council’s legal caseload in your area of specialism and related projects, including handling the Council’s most complex legal matters.

Experience
- Conducting legal matters in property and planning law
- Advocacy experience in relevant areas of law
- Advising in local government or a similar environment
- Managing a team of lawyers

Qualifications
- Solicitor, Barrister, FILEX or similar legal qualification authorised to conduct legal work
