About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen within the London Borough of Redbridge for a highly experienced Principal Lawyer – Property & Planning to join the Council and provide a comprehensive and professional legal service. You will report to the Chief Legal Officer within the Legal Department and work closely with other Council departmental clients and specialist departments.

Your responsibilities will include managing the Property & Planning Legal Team, providing expertise, advice, guidance, and practical assistance on property and planning matters including landlord and tenant act issues, deeds of easement/wayleaves, collective enfranchisement and leasehold extensions, right to buy transactions, planning agreements, and related legal matters. You will conduct the Council’s legal caseload in your area of specialism and related projects, including handling the Council’s most complex legal matters.

Experience
- Holding a Solicitor, Barrister, FILEX or similar legal qualification and authorised to conduct legal work.
- Experience conducting legal matters in property and planning law.
- Advocacy experience in relevant areas of law.
- Experience advising in local government or a similar environment.
- Proven ability to manage a team of lawyers.
