About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark projects within a global network of experts, contributing to meaningful work that shapes communities. We are seeking an experienced Principal or Associate Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in healthcare projects to join our London Building Services team. You will work in a joint leadership capacity within a mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) discipline team, providing design and technical advice across a wide range of projects.
The role involves leading the mechanical design for a large, complex healthcare project, delivering HVAC system designs through all RIBA stages. You will supervise detailed designs, manage feasibility studies, and direct the production of specifications and equipment schedules. You will regularly brief the project team, ensure clarity on scope and appointment documents, review design programmes, and monitor resource allocation. Additionally, you will lead the ongoing management of the project 'Cost to Complete' (CTC), tracking progress and flagging any potential profit or loss to your Discipline Team Leader.
You will join a dynamic and supportive team of over 100 mechanical, electrical, and public health engineers in London, working on some of the most prestigious projects worldwide. Experience
- Proven experience delivering HVAC designs on complex healthcare projects
- Working knowledge of Health Technical Memorandums (HTMs) and Health Building Notes (HBNs)
- Experience managing design teams to ensure quality and timely delivery
- Conducting technical design reviews
- Detailed understanding of relevant building regulations and British Standards
- Familiarity with Revit MEP or other 3D design software for project work allocation
- Understanding of dynamic thermal modelling software (such as IES) for data assessment and quality checks
