About the Role
This is not a role for the faint hearted – and that’s exactly why it’s one of the most rewarding places you can work in housing enforcement. If you’re looking for complex cases, tribunal experience, and the chance to work at the sharp end of private sector housing regulation, this is where you’ll find it. Our growing team is nationally engaged, focused on enforcement, and deeply committed to making real change for residents. If you want to build serious experience, sharpen your legal and enforcement knowledge, and handle cases that genuinely matter, this is the place to do it.

You’ll be joining a team that is actively involved in national and London-wide pilot schemes, working with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), MHCLG, and the Greater London Authority (GLA). The team is at the forefront of housing enforcement, operating a large licensing scheme and has extensive tribunal experience – you won’t just read about enforcement, you’ll do it. You will work hand-in-hand with an experienced in-house legal team, giving you support and credibility in complex cases.

The role offers exceptional professional development, tribunal and court experience, the chance to work on complex, high impact cases, support to develop as an expert enforcement officer, encouragement and backing for career progression, training and CPD, and a genuine opportunity to make a difference in residents’ lives while building an impressive enforcement portfolio.

The Council operates a hybrid working model combining home and office working, taking a flexible approach to strike the right balance for officers and service delivery.

Requirements

Experience
Experience handling complex housing enforcement cases and tribunal work is highly desirable. You will be working with and supporting other team members on complex cases.

About you
You will be a highly motivated, flexible individual with excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people at different levels. You must be committed to equality of opportunity and inclusivity, and motivated to make a positive impact on residents’ lives.

Qualifications
A degree in Environmental Health, or registration as a Registered Housing Health Practitioner or Environmental Health Practitioner is essential. You must have a sound working knowledge of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS). You must have the right to work in the UK; evidence will be requested at interview.
