About the Role
Private Wealth Management (PWM) secures, develops and manages relationships with high net worth individuals, their families, family offices and foundations. PWM assists clients with building and preserving their financial wealth by creating and implementing long-term asset allocation strategies tailored to each client’s risk tolerance, providing access to innovative investment ideas and opportunities. PWM professionals develop customized investment strategies and offer a full array of wealth management products and services, including private banking and trust company services.
The Investment Strategy Group (ISG), within Asset & Wealth Management at Goldman Sachs, provides customized asset allocation solutions to help clients preserve and grow their wealth. The main responsibility of this role is to develop customized asset allocation solutions and implement discretionarily managed quantitative strategies. The successful candidate will collaborate with the team and private wealth advisors to gather client information, analyze portfolios, produce tailored asset allocation solutions, and prepare analyses for presentations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing customized asset allocation solutions using the ISG asset allocation model
- Generating customized research reports and client presentations
- Assisting with research related to asset allocation modelling and individual asset classes
- Providing asset allocation guidance to the Private Wealth Management team
- Supporting business development through creation and maintenance of marketing materials and client performance reports
- Assisting in managing portfolio implementation plans, onboarding discussions, and investment management agreement changes
- Liaising with internal stakeholders including Legal, Compliance, and Technology teams
- Monitoring portfolios and assisting with rebalancing to predefined risk parameters and trading
Experience
Master’s degree in Finance with a quantitative focus such as mathematical finance, computational finance, financial engineering, or financial econometrics. Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills with a minimum undergraduate degree in a STEM subject (Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science) or an undergraduate Economics degree combined with a quantitative postgraduate degree in Finance.
About you
Proficiency in programming languages, preferably Python, along with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills. Knowledge of additional European languages is advantageous. Familiarity with academic research and industry practices and a keen interest in financial markets. Effective communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly. Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for client engagement. Attention to detail, patience, and the ability to multitask under pressure. Collaborative mindset with the ability to follow instructions and execute with good judgment. Independent, logical thinker with a willingness to think critically and innovatively. Highly motivated, eager to learn, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Finance with a quantitative focus or equivalent. Undergraduate degree in a STEM or quantitative field or Economics combined with quantitative postgraduate study. Proficiency in Python and strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint are required.
