About the Role
Are you someone who loves challenges, enjoys meeting people, and isn’t afraid to knock on a door or pick up the phone? As a Procurement & Lettings Solutions Officer, you’ll play a key role in transforming the lives of homeless residents in Richmond and Wandsworth by securing good-quality private rented homes for people who need them most.

You will source, inspect, negotiate, and secure privately rented properties across Richmond and Wandsworth, unlocking new housing opportunities and preventing homelessness in your community.

If you’re driven, persuasive, people-focused, and ready to make a visible difference, this is your chance to shine.

Key Responsibilities:
- Spotting Opportunities: Research online listings, scan property portals, and explore local neighbourhoods to identify private landlords and agents open to letting their properties to the council.
- Building Relationships: Reach out to landlords and estate agents, pitch the benefits of partnering with the council, and maintain strong, positive relationships that encourage ongoing collaboration.
- Negotiating Deals: Use negotiation skills to secure properties at affordable rates, delivering value for money and ensuring local taxpayers’ funds are spent wisely.
- Offering Incentives: Provide landlords with cash incentives and support packages that make working with the council easy, appealing, and commercially attractive.
- Conducting Property Inspections: Visit properties, complete compliance checks, and ensure homes meet key standards supported by full in-house training. Work towards a professional Housing Health & Safety Rating System (HHSRS) qualification, fully paid for and delivered by the council.
- Travelling the Boroughs: Spend time across Richmond and Wandsworth visiting landlords, agents, and properties, using either your own vehicle (with provided parking permit) or pre-paid travel cards.
- Making a Real Impact: Play a direct and meaningful part in preventing homelessness and improving the lives of residents across both boroughs.
