About the Role
Hackney Borough Council is seeking a Procurement Category Manager to join the Corporate Services procurement team. This permanent role reports directly to the Procurement Category Lead and focuses on managing a diverse and strategically important procurement portfolio. Key areas include financial services such as pensions, debt management, treasury operations, insurance, and actuarial services; facilities management including security, cleaning, catering, and office relocation; vehicle fleet supplies and support services; temporary accommodation supplies related to homelessness statutory obligations; human resources, consultancy services and transformation; communication, media, events and transformation; as well as parking and streetscene services.
The post holder will manage major and strategically significant contracts within their designated category area, working within a small, close-knit team that values collaboration, proactivity, and adherence to public procurement principles. The role requires a strategic commercial focus and the ability to deliver procurement projects from start to finish, ensuring quality and timely delivery aligned with Council policies and stakeholder expectations.

Experience
- Proven experience managing complex procurement projects in line with the Procurement New Act Regulations.
- Demonstrable ability to run tenders from start to finish and utilise various framework agreements.
- Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders and peers, communicating clearly, confidently, and authoritatively.
- Track record of organising and delivering work on time and to agreed quality standards.
