Description
1. To assist the Senior Production Technicians to supervise the staff and activities assigned to the Production Unit, to ensure that products (both sterile and non-sterile) are manufactured in line with GMP with adequate supervision. 2. To assist the Senior Production Technicians to ensure that the appropriate working environment is maintained in the Production Unit, and that equipment and plant in these areas are kept clean and maintained to the required standard. On a daily basis this will include ensuring the daily environmental results are satisfactory. 3. To assist the Senior Production Technicians to ensure that all working practices in the Production Unit meet all the requirements as determined in the unit MHRA licences, Good Manufacturing Practice, Health and Safety at work act, COSSH, HTM 2010 and any other legislation where applicable. 4. To assist the Senior Production Technicians to be responsible for supervising staff in Unit in particular, student technicians, Pre-registration Pharmacists, Assistant Technical Officers and where appropriate Pharmacists. 5. To assist the Senior Production Technicians in undertaking planning of production, liaising with the senior staff to ensure forward planning of manufacture of Sterile and Non-Sterile products to meet the service demands of the Trust and outside the Trust. 6. To assist the Senior Production Technicians to undertake the organisation and planning of production staff duties and workflow to ensure deadlines are met and plans are achieved. 7. To assist the Senior Production Technicians to ensure correct use of complex pieces of equipment such as the autoclave, ROTA machine, tablet machine and various mixing vessels. 8. To assist the Senior Production Technicians to liaise with the Quality Control department over quality control matters such as in-process controls and environmental monitoring. 9. To assist in the ordering and stock control of raw materials, containers and other items used in the manufacture of products and to ensure adequate stocks are maintained. 10. To assist the Senior Staff in the assessment of new and replacement pieces of equipment. 11. To assist in the training of all grades of staff in all aspects of production using the competency based system and in the induction training of such staff. 12. To assist the pharmacy engineer in ensuring that regular maintenance of equipment such as the autoclaves is performed and appropriate documentation is processed and filed correctly. 13. To supervise the preparation and processing of material required for research or clinical trials. To liaise and assist the research and development team as required. 14. To undertake the preparation of material for customers outside the Guys and St. Thomas Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. 15. To supervise, and undertake when required, the weekly and monthly cleaning of the Manufacturing Unit. To assist in maintaining the general tidiness of the unit. 16. To undertake the manufacture of complex batches when required following adequate training. 17. To undertake the preparation of documentation and labels using available computer systems and master documents for the preparation of all products 18. To ensure that all documentation associated with production is filled in correctly, processed and filed in the correct place, including product documentation. 19. To attend courses and undertake training to develop expertise in production where training needs are identified. 20. To contribute to the development of GMP documentation such as standard operating procedures and worksheets. 21. To actively assist senior staff in the maintenance of the Quality Management System for the production units. 22. To undertake the validation and qualification of manufacturing equipment, processes and products in liaison with the Senior Production Staff. 23. To make recommendations to senior staff regarding changes in procedures to improve quality and efficiency within the work area and to comment on proposed changes 24. To attend department and trust training and networking meetings to ensure assessment practice meets current relevant standards and Code of Practice requirements. 25. To undertake other duties as required in order to maintain the safe, efficient and effective provision of pharmaceutical services at the request of Production Manager.
