As a Project Manager in the SDF (Service Delivery Framework) Roads team, you will work alongside talented professionals ranging from early career engineers to established project managers. You will be involved in improving local and strategic road networks across the London & South East region.
The National Highways Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF) is a multi-billion-pound procurement strategy used to maintain, renew, and improve England’s Strategic Road Network (SRN). It enables regional, collaborative, and performance-based contracts for works such as pavement, civil engineering, and technology to enhance safety and efficiency.
In this role, you will lead the delivery of moderately complex projects, accountable for scope, schedule, budget, and resource management, while ensuring quality and compliance with WSP’s procedures and client requirements. Your workload will be varied and interesting, including:
- Developing project scopes, managing schedules, controlling budgets, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
- Leading stakeholder engagement, managing expectations, and maintaining strong client relationships
- Identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks and issues, maintaining registers and mitigation plans
- Overseeing procurement activities and contract compliance, working within NEC or similar frameworks
- Ensuring deliverables meet agreed quality standards and fulfilling reporting requirements
- Managing project documentation, tracking milestones, resources, and change control
- Mentoring and upskilling junior staff to support their professional development and progression towards qualifications
- Collaborating with clients and key stakeholders to successfully deliver schemes and projects
Experience
Proven experience managing projects with accountability for delivery of scope, schedule, budget, and resources. Understanding of NEC contracts or similar, with experience in contract administration and compliance. Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Competency in project management tools such as MS Project and a proactive approach to process improvement.

Qualifications
APM PMQ or equivalent qualification is not a prerequisite but will be greatly beneficial to the role. Relevant project management qualifications or experience in highways/roads projects is advantageous.
