About the Role
Ealing Council is seeking an experienced and motivated public health professional to lead our programme of work on gambling harms prevention. This exciting one-year fixed-term role will lead the development of Ealing's first comprehensive Gambling Harms Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA). The postholder will take a population health and health inequalities approach to understanding the impact of gambling harms on local residents and communities, helping to shape future prevention, policy and commissioning priorities.
Working at Principal level, you will lead complex quantitative and qualitative analysis, undertake community and stakeholder engagement, and oversee participatory research delivered in partnership with Ealing's Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC). You will play a key role in ensuring that local evidence and lived experience inform policy, commissioning and service development to reduce gambling-related harm and improve outcomes for residents.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development and delivery of a comprehensive Gambling Harms JSNA.
- Designing and delivering participatory research and engagement activities in partnership with HDRC, placing lived experience at the centre of the work.
- Analysing and interpreting complex health, social and wider determinants data to identify need, inequalities and opportunities for action.
- Building and managing strategic partnerships across a complex system.
- Providing expert public health advice to support strategy, policy and decision-making.
- Translating evidence into practical recommendations that support prevention, early intervention and reduction of health inequalities.
- Representing Public Health at local, regional and national forums and contributing to wider learning on gambling harms prevention.
At Ealing Council, we are committed to improving the health and wellbeing of our residents and tackling inequalities. This role offers an opportunity to lead an innovative and high-profile programme of work that will help shape future action on gambling harms across the borough and beyond.
If you are looking for an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of Ealing residents, we'd love to hear from you.
You must have the right to work in the UK. Evidence for the right to work will be requested at the interview stage.
