About the Role
Wates Smartspace are seeking Project Surveyors to join our construction team in the South, focusing on high profile, technically complex projects across multiple sectors. Our Quantity Surveyors play a vital role, leading project or package teams with full accountability for the development and implementation of all pre and post contract strategies, commercial functions, and contract reporting. You will work collaboratively with customers and industry specialists, maintaining a strong focus on added value, compliance, commercial viability, and best practice.
As a Project Surveyor you will:
- Manage project costs, budgets, and forecasts across fit-out and refurbishment schemes
- Prepare valuations, cost reports, and oversee financial controls throughout the project lifecycle
- Procure and manage subcontractors, including tender evaluation and contract administration
- Track and manage variations, change control, and commercial risks
- Support project teams on live operational sites, providing clear commercial insight and guidance
- Administer NEC/JCT contracts and ensure compliance with all commercial obligations
- Lead final accounts, claims resolution, and accurate commercial documentation
- Drive value engineering and support sustainability-focused solutions within project delivery

Experience
Proven experience in quantity surveying within construction, ideally with exposure to fit-out and refurbishment projects. Experience managing commercial functions, contract administration, and financial controls is essential.
