About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts, providing a full range of hospital and community services across south London and specialist care for patients from further afield. The Trust is home to Europe’s largest dental school, a £160 million Cancer Centre, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, and one of the largest critical care units in the UK. In 2021, the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined the Trust, creating a world-renowned heart and lung centre. We are proud of our reputation for clinical excellence, high quality teaching, research, and one of the lowest mortality rates in the NHS.
The R&D department at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Research Governance Facilitator to oversee specific clinical directorates’ or groups’ research portfolios. This dynamic role involves working closely with research matrons or managers to prioritise study or trial set-ups, advising on study lifecycle requirements, and contributing to research governance processes. The post-holder will be supported by a Research Governance Specialist and may line-manage a Band 5 research coordinator or a Band 4 R&D administrator.
Key responsibilities include research approvals, keeping up to date with research regulations, developing SOPs and guidance documents, and occasionally providing research governance training to R&D and research staff. The role requires collaboration across multiple sites and departments, with a focus on ensuring smooth and efficient management of research activities.
Full-time R&D staff are expected to work in the office three days a week and be available to visit the Trust’s three research hospitals to support researchers and research delivery teams.
Guy’s and St Thomas’ is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive working environment, promoting flexible working arrangements to support a healthy work-life balance.
