About the Role
Do you have experience of working with people with a learning disability? Are you passionate about working for an organisation that drives change? We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and self-motivated full-time Skills Coach to join our Supported Internship programme team in Barnet. As a Skills Coach, your role is central to the delivery of our Mencap Training Academy. You will support learners with SEN to complete all elements of the programme in line with requirements by providing tailored support. The role is based in the community classroom of our supported internship programme supporting learners with mild to moderate learning disabilities and difficulties.
Key responsibilities include being accountable for learner progression and ensuring young adults achieve the skills they need to progress onto paid employment. You will deliver support in various ways including 1-1 job coaching, working with learners in the classroom to develop employability skills, and embedding English and Maths learning in the workplace. You will support people to learn the skills necessary to achieve sustained paid employment.
Experience
- Experience of supporting people with learning disabilities or SEN
- Experience of delivering against targets
- Knowledge of safe working practices
- Knowledge of the sector

- Effective communicator
- Good ICT skills
- Strong record keeping and reporting abilities
Qualifications
- GCSE English and Maths at grade A-C/9-4 or equivalent (evidence required at interview stage)
